This one sucks, it has a lot of restrictions based on membership and it’s so inconsistent with other branches that’s not clear on their site. The staff is snobby and I almost thought I walked into a country club. Sad to see no real essence of the mission of YMCA here.

Visited the Northwest Cary Y for the first time while in the area killing time. Upon arrival I told the front desk it was my first visit. I wish there was a value add, such as a tour offered since it was my first time or even a brief description of the gym setup. The indoor track was nice. There are a variety of strength training equipment located throughout the gym space and not just in one area. I liked how things were spaced out with the opportunity to even be away from crowds. All the machines seemed well kept up and the space was clean. Once upstairs near the cardio machines I couldn’t find the towel booth and honestly there wasn’t anyone available to ask. The staff here seem pretty hands-off and extremely involved in socializing with each other, I guess this is the norm.

This place is fine if you go during non-peak times. I usually stick to the treadmills and can find one open. Their indoor track doesnt alternate directions like all the other ymcas-maybe caused my right hip pain from constant pivoting? They monitor pretty closely when you scan in-to make sure your card is legit i guess? And I dont think they give out guest passes anymore because I still havent gotten any after joining 2.5 months ago. Their sauna and steam room works though which is nice. I found most of the equipment to be functioning but you will still see people scrolling on their phones so there is that if you want a popular machine. My biggest complaint is that they dont open until noon on sundays and i work from 11-5 :/

Great clean opened facilities with ample amount of space in-between workout equipment. Sauna, steam rooms, lockers, showers and two pools in the back including outdoor soccer field and two full size basket courts with multiple studios. Extremely friendly staff as well.
